As I gear up for what will be the busiest month of my wedding season, I’m looking back on my photo sessions from this summer, and Jenny and Gary’s Newport RI engagement session stands out. August was a difficult month for me. I lost my grandfather, my boyfriend lost his grandmother, and nothing was routine anymore. I cancelled a ton of meetings, but kept most of my photo sessions in my calendar. When I arrived in Newport for Jenny and Gary’s engagement session, we shared some champagne and beer. Being by the ocean and photographing two young people in love made everything alright. It was refreshing and therapeutic.
We started the engagement session at Forty 1 North, the same place Gary proposed to Jenny in the winter. The restaurant allowed us to use their dining space and dock for photos. It was beautiful, golden light, and the breeze was warm. We stopped for a few minutes on Thames Street before ending the engagement session at Brenton Point State Park, with one of the prettiest pink sunsets I’ve ever seen.
I’m so happy I was able to do this session for you two. As much as this session was to celebrate your love, it was a much-needed treat for me. Thank you again for your warmth and kindness; I can’t wait for your wedding next year in Newport!
xoxo, Catherine
