There is truly no wedding like a Greek wedding. Olivia and Christos’ Greek Belle Mer wedding is next to the blog!
This was such a special wedding to photograph. I had worked with the bride Olivia because she is a talented wedding hairstylist and makeup artist, and she owns a wonderful salon in downtown Braintree. When she reached out for her own wedding photography, I was so incredibly flattered. When you’re in the wedding business, you see a lot of vendors, so it’s such a compliment to work with someone in the industry.
Olivia and Christos tied the knot at St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Newport, Rhode Island. These Greek Orthodox services are long but so beautiful, and the church is a special one to photograph in.
After the service, I got my favorite privilege of riding in the front seat of the Rolls Royce as we drove to Belle Mer. This was a bright, sunny day, and Belle Mer is an all white venue. I love how well film handles the bright whites and blasting sunlight that would be tough to capture on digital. These are some of my favorite portraits from the season – keep scrolling for the sunset images!
One of my favorite parts of a Greek wedding is the money dance during the reception. For the first dance and parent dances, friends and family showered the couple with dollar bills. The ballroom floor was absolutely littered in money, and guests continued to throw the bills in the air all night long. This was also one of the wildest dance floors I’ve been on. It was a wildly fun night for two wildly in love humans.
